Is there a more familiar symbol than hearts for expressing love, likes and such? Don’t we constantly say things like “I love this” for anything that we find pleasing from food to romantic love?
According to Wikipedia – “The combination of the “heart shape” and its use within the “heart” metaphor developed at the end of the Middle Ages.” and “The first known depiction of a heart as a symbol of romantic love dates to the 1250s”. You’d think we’d be sick of it by now. And yet, as an artist and jewelry maker I still find my designs gravitating toward that over used, all too familiar symbol. I keep trying to come up with new ways to use it.
I don’t know when I’ll get tired of this symbol, but in the meantime, I’ll just keep trying to make interesting, maybe even unique and pretty things with it. So, with that said (and Valentine’s Day approaching) here is a collection of some of my heart themed jewelry.
My first wire heart pendant
Had enough, just imagine all the heart images I didn’t post 🙂

I love them all but my favorite is the patina heart with the gilders paste. Jan P
Thank you Janice! That one is unique. It was sold to a lovely return customer some time ago. Maybe I’ll make a similar one.
You surely put the “art” in Heart! Beautiful pieces all.
Thank you Sally – what an awesome thing to say 😀
Beautiful! You put a piece of your heart in everything you create 🙂
Thank you Shinrin 😀
I love your work! I’d love to feature it on Beadage.net if you’re not on there already!
Thank you, Emma. I’m not familiar with Beadage.com but am flattered as long as it links back to my blog or shop (http://zoraida.artfire.com) 😁
Beadage.net actually (not .com)! Oh, I guess that sounded like I wanted to do a blog post or something. No, I meant we have a curated gallery of jewelry projects submitted from our readers, many of them are jewelry designers who get more exposure by submitting pieces to our site. Come check it out if you are interested.
Thank you. I will check it out 🙂
