Thank you Melanie!!

Who says you can’t make real friends on Facebook!  I’ve certainly have made a few.  One of these is a great lady named Melanie.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we have a little land in upstate NY where we hope to build a home someday. It has nothing on it but meadow, trees and a beautiful stream. Progress is slow and money is tight so anything we can do to move things along feels like we’re getting closer.

On a recent visit to our lot we were wonderfully surprised by a visit from Melanie, a fascinating lady I had come to know through Facebook.  Our initial contact was through a phone call to her regarding our concerns about fracking in NY.   We found her on Facebook and she’s not far from out lot!!!

Not only did she stop by our camper unexpectedly when we went camping, she took some chairs out of her car and hung out with us.  That was truly awesome!  We had no address, no house, nothing!  She must have had some psychic connection, homing device, or something 🙂

I realize this post is longer than I usually write so I’ll try and wrap it up.

We recently had the Dept of Highways build an entrance for a driveway on our land so we can drive our camper up the top of the hill.  Because we actually live over 250 miles away, we couldn’t run up there to check it out.  I asked Melanie to please look at it and take photos if she was driving through the area.  She did, and we are overwhelmed with gratitude 😀

Not knowing how else to thank her, I made her the silver earrings at the top of this page.  I liked them so much I made a similar pair for myself (or for sale, haven’t decided yet).

Great story and great post! The earrings are beautiful! Actually, it’s 272 miles, 7hr drive with the RV 😉

What a great story!!! It truly is a small world, isn’t it? Your site is gorgeous. My husband and I recently moved back to NJ from living in NE Pa for 15 years. It is so beautiful up there. We came back because I have a granddaughter now and now that we are older I wanted to be close to my son. But who knows what tomorrow will bring, so now we’re torn whether we should move back to Pa or stay in NJ? Go figure.
Your earrings are gorgeous, as usual!!!!

Thanks so much for the compliments, Barbara. It must be awful to have to make a choice like that. I’m lucky not to be in that situation, my daughter lives at home with us. Good luck with whatever you do and wherever you live. I’m sure all will turn out well eventually 🙂

Fabulous story. You may like mine that is a bit similar. I belong to a disabled artist group online. A woman named Jenny and I had messaged in the group a couple of times. Then when we had an art challenge, we were partners. Now she is one of my very closest closest friends. It turned out that we had way more in common than our disability and art. We either talk on the phone or text every single day. I can talk to her about things that I don’t feel comfortable talking about with anyone else. She lives a 7 hours drive away from me. I am very excited that in 2 1/2 weeks I am going to visit her!! We also plan on collaborating on jewelry pieces in the near future. Yes, it is true that you can make real friends online!

That is wonderful, Diane!! It’s really great to finally meet someone you’ve “known” online for a while. I’m sure you will have a wonderful time getting together in person, like kindred souls reuniting. Let me know how it goes 😀

Zoraida ~ What a great story! Your property is gorgeous & now you already have a friendly neighbor! All thanks to Facebook! That’s great! You are such a generous soul & your earrings as a ‘thank you’ are beautiful! You & Melanie are both blessed! My fingers are crossed that both of you will be able to keep fracking far away!
