I came home last night to find I had just sold a favorite necklace. I was thrilled to receive the email from Artfire and PayPal informing me of the sale.
When I viewed the details of the sale, I realized the customer lives in New York and had paid about $7.50 in sales tax, I immediately felt a little guilty. Why? I don’t know. It’s not my fault we both live in New York!
Nevertheless, it nagged at me that between the shipping and sales tax fees she had paid an additional $12.50 or so. That seemed like a lot to me.
What I decided to do, and it may have been necessary and unprofessional of me, was to make a pair of matching earrings and include them in her package for free. I hope she likes them.
In any case, it made me feel better.
So nice of you. I’m sure that she will appreciate the surprise!
Thanks, Diane. I suppose that if the earrings are not her style, she can give them away. In any case, I feel better!
Dianna, I’m sorry to have misspelled your name in my reply.
I believe that you did what you felt you should. I would certainly feel the same way and am sure she’ll be delighted!
Thanks Deb, so I’m not so ridiculous after all.
No, you are not ridiculous at all! You’re very sweet & conscientious, as well as very customer service oriented! You have a very lucky customer! I hope she loves the bonus. ^_^
Thanks Diane! You are always so sweet and supportive.
What a great idea, Zoraida! I’m sure she will be thrilled with the earrings and will always remember that little extra you included. And congratulations on the sale!
Thanks Catherine!
Gorgeous earrings that goes well with this chain! why wouldnt she like it? NY city with all those taxes and yet ppl love it there…now i know why
Of course she’ll appreciate it…and who knows maybe become a repeat customer???
She will appreciate the added touch and come back for more. Along with telling her friends. It’s not why you did it but I think that what comes around goes around
Thanks Shaiha, I believe in Karma too. In fact, that’s one of my favorite sayings.
