Mother/Daughter Necklaces?

Last week I sold one of my favorite necklaces – a gorgeous fire agate, wire wrapped pendant with a chain of pale green beads.  The lady who purchased it was delighted with it, and so was her mother.

She asked me to make another necklace using the same jade beads.. if I had any left over.  I still had some beads but not enough for a whole necklace chain.  I remembered that I had a bracelet in my online shop with these very same beads.  It had been sitting in that shop long enough so I took it apart.  After all, it might just sit there indefinitely and I could sell this new necklace now!

My customer really wanted to give her mother (who had recently broken her hip) a necklace similar to hers.  She thought it would cheer her up.

I wasn’t crazy about that bracelet anyway.

Thanks Diane ! I was scrambling thru all my beads trying to match the original. The thought of a matching set of necklaces seemed so sweet I didn’t care if I destroyed the bracelet.

Yeah, it’s funny how when we create something we never really know if it’s a keeper or if it will be used for something else down the road. I guess it’s just part of the creative process. ^_^

excellent use of the bracelet…love both the pieces…

  4. Great work! The necklace has more life to it and in the end the bracelet’s sacrifice created a happy client. It will live on, perhaps in the way it was always meant to. 🙂
