I need to confess that I am something of a snob when it comes to handmade items. For some reason I feel the need to make every link, bail, clasp, bezel and any other component of my jewelry, myself. Maybe it’s the challenge. The only parts I don’t create
by hand are the beads, cabs or wire. That’s only a matter of time (I hope). I don’t know about the wire though.
I’ve recently come across an online marketplace that really celebrates handmade. No mass produced, manufactured items here, no resellers, unaltered vintage, or non-handmade supplies. Their goal, in their own words is to “go back to basics and have a handmade site only for handmade artists”. This absolutely thrills me – I mentioned my obsession with making jewelry that is all handmade. I have great respect and admiration for artisans who create handmade items of all kinds.
